We know that a lot of students have put a huge amount of time and effort into preparing for their Summer 2020 trips and will have been getting very excited to go on their incredible journeys. We appreciate that the current situation with school closures, lockdowns and travel advice will of course be creating a lot of questions for everyone on the planning for these trips. We have tried to answer some of the key questions you may have below.
Firstly, and most importantly, please be assured that Global Action’s first priority is for the safety of all our participants and staff and will not be going ahead with any trip if it is not deemed safe to do so.
With the current government advice and guidance in place, and schools closed, are the Summer 2020 trips cancelled?
We are constantly monitoring the government advice and speaking with our schools to try and gather more information regarding the recent announcements on advising against overseas school trips and school closures. We very much hope that this will not impact the summer trips and we continue to work with our partners and leaders to plan as normal for the departure.
Following further clarity on the UK Government advice and guidance on the proposed duration of school closures, we will consult the school, parents, and students on the options available for the Summer trips, which could include rescheduling the trip to a later travel date.
Considering the current situation, do I still have to make the payments for this trip?
Following consultation with a number of our schools and delivery partners and considering the advice and guidance currently in place from the UK Government, we have taken the decision to delay all further payments for our Summer 2020 trips. This delay will remain in place pending further clarification from the Government on the duration of school closures and travel advice. We hope to have this clarity in the following couple of weeks and will advise further on the payment schedule following this.
I am concerned about my son/daughter going on the trip, can I cancel now?
It is the participants’ and parents’ choice if they wish to withdraw from the trip at any time, but they must understand that withdrawal for disinclination to travel is not covered by the travel insurance cancellation policy and they will be subject to a cancellation fee. The fees are outlined in our Booking Terms and Conditions, which can be viewed here. As mentioned in previous communications, we will however, refund any further funds transferred to us if an individual decides to withdraw closer to departure.
Is my money protected under the ATOL scheme?
Global Action is a fully bonded UK-based tour operator, Air Travel Organiser’s Licence (ATOL) Number 10624. All the flight inclusive trips provided by Global Action are financially protected by the ATOL scheme. In the unlikely event of our insolvency, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) will arrange to refund any money you have paid to us for an advance booking.
