We engage young people in learning about poverty reduction, environmental issues and social justice through educational expeditions to: Nepal, the Indian Himalayas, Malaysian Borneo, Zanzibar Island, Costa Rica, Greece, and Switzerland.
Global Action is the only UK school trips company whose Directors have worked overseas for the UN at senior management level. We are a young, dynamic company based in Cirencester.
The Head of Sales and Marketing Role
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Head of Sales and Marketing will lead and set the direction for our sales and marketing team. Your responsibilities include:
1. Driving sales growth – comprised of both new business and repeat school sales. Ultimately, your aim is to grow annual business by:
Creating successful, long-term relationships with our schools to secure repeat business
Creating Lead Generation campaigns and managing the Leads Pipeline to meet targets. High level persuasion and negotiation skills are needed to ensure all possible sales are closed by deadlines.
Designing and managing new digital marketing campaigns, and managing a CRM
Exercising a high degree of innovation and, in discussion with Operations, adapt products where possible and profitable to meet customer needs
Managing the promotion of the trip launch within schools, including online and face to face presentations
Recommending actions to improve sales performance and identify areas for growth
2. To achieve our targets for student retention of booked schools, while ensuring expectations are set, and met, for teachers, parents and students. This will include:
Proactively analysing individual school needs and responding to their requirements
Working with the Operations Team to identify and resolve any issues
Engaging our customers throughout the programme
Travel to overseas locations twice a year to visit programmes
Attributes, Skills and Experience
Essential criteria:
Proven experience in creating Lead Generation campaigns, closing sales and achieving sales targets
Proven experience in customer service and retaining customers in a customer facing sales role
Passion for outdoor education, environmental protection, and international development
Self-confident, with excellent sales and negotiation skills; Experienced in sales strategy and systems to help improve sales performance
Tenacious, target-driven, with excellent communication skills – comfortable presenting to teachers, students or parents online, and in person
Proven experience in online marketing
Excellent time management skills – ability to achieve targets and working to tight deadlines under own initiative without direct supervision, and with the highest attention to detail
Team player, happy to work in a small business where everyone has to be ‘hands on’
Positive, flexible, and a proactive problem-solver
Willing to work some evenings, and travel as required (time off in lieu will be given)
Full UK Driving Licence and own car
Desired criteria:
Undergraduate degree, or equivalent professional experience
Overseas expedition and/or volunteer experience in developing countries
Experience with a school trip or expedition company, or within the travel industry
Experience managing Salesforce
