Julian’s love and passion for Global Learning runs deep. His love for travel was sparked during a Year 10 school trip to China, igniting a lifelong desire to explore the world.
After earning a degree in Outdoor Education at university, Julian’s first overseas destination was, unsurprisingly, Nepal. He embarked on a life-changing two-month adventure that included white-water kayaking and jungle safaris. However, his journey was unexpectedly interrupted by the April 2015 earthquake.
Determined to help with the recovery efforts, Julian had the privilege of living and working in a local community near the earthquake’s epi-center for a short time. It was during this period that he realised Nepal would always hold a special place in his heart.
Julian gained invaluable experience as an Outdoor Instructor in Australia and had the opportunity to lead school groups on exciting expeditions to destinations such as Vietnam, Tanzania, and Borneo. These experiences reinforced his belief in the transformative power of Outdoor and Travel Education for young people.
As Destination Manager at Global Action, Julian combines his two greatest passions—Nepal and Outdoor Education—making this role a perfect fit for him.
In his spare time, Julian enjoys exploring the beautiful Cotswolds, watching sports, and indulging in all things Harry Potter. He and his wife are also eagerly anticipating the arrival of their first child, a baby girl, in May 2025—a new adventure he’s thrilled to embark on!
