Our Approach

Why choose us?

  • A Global Action trip is a once in a lifetime opportunity to travel to amazing countries, have fun, and learn about global issues in-country, taking learning outside the classroom
  • Unlike other UK school trip providers, Global Action has access to international development and conservation experts in-country, because it is led by international development professionals who have worked overseas for the United Nations, NGOs, and international agencies at senior management level
  • We don’t duplicate other companies, or provide ‘off the shelf’ package tours. We go many extra miles to provide tailor-made learning programmes  at excellent value, to enhance learning across the curriculum for both teachers and students
  • Our transformative learning activities for global citizens challenge assumptions and build knowledge around poverty alleviation, conservation and social justice issues
  • Dynamic workshops and support from caring and experienced staff is included in the UK, overseas and on return
  • You’ll have fun!
What is Global Learning?

What we do

  • We deliver a global learning programme underpinned by international development expertise and NGO networks in all our destinations.  This starts with one of our team giving a Global Learning Workshop at your school
  • Teams visit NGOs and charitable organisations working in-country to learn more about the challenges and successes in meeting the SDGs by 2030
  • We provide long-term support to experienced and dynamic local Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and charities, who have a clear understanding of the challenges and needs of vulnerable, marginalised communities
  • Our students participate in activities and programmes that are part of on-going, long-term conservation programmes and poverty reduction strategies. We believe that local communities (not us!) should always be their own ‘drivers of change’
  • Community project visits offer fun and highly rewarding opportunities for everyone involved.  Whether playing football, taking part in a joint workshop with local students, or installing drinking water systems – you will leave with fresh perspectives and new friends.

Our Destinations

Global Action Values

We believe we have a responsibility to ensure all our activities aim to reduce poverty whilst promoting environmental conservation and social justice, in line with our learning aims. This is as relevant in the countries we travel to as it is at home in the UK.

We seek to do this by:

  • Working with local providers who share our values, paying a fair and equitable cost for all services to support the development of local economies
  • Ensuring our operations are of an appropriate scale and type to support local sustainable tourism development and not competing with local populations for infrastructure and resources
  • Supporting and working with local agencies who can ensure all projects visited and participated in by Global Action participants are well designed, appropriate to local need and can ensure a positive and sustainable outcome
  • Engaging leaders who share our values in low impact travel and Leave No Trace principles
  • Encouraging all participants to act in a responsible way through understanding the culture of their travel destination
  • Reducing the waste our groups produce in all destinations, with a particular focus on single-use plastics
  • Striving for a zero-paper office where possible, reducing waste and encouraging recycling.

Our Approach

  • High Educational Value

Our Global Action programmes are designed to support learning around global issues across the Humanities and Science, while strengthening students’ employability skills in leadership, teamwork, and communication. All students receive the widely recognised ASDAN Universities Award, highlighted by UCAS for applicants to mention in the personal statement of their UCAS form. Something to help you stand out from the crowd!
