INDIA – AUGUST 2026
This is a once in a lifetime trip, with unprecedented access to charities, Buddhist monasteries and village cooperatives, allowing students to learn about important global issues, ancient world religions and international development.
This India trip will also provide strong opportunities to develop self-confidence, leadership and teamwork skills. Due to the high educational value of this trip, all students will earn the widely recognised ASDAN Universities Award, which will look excellent on future UCAS University applications.
Based in the foothills of the world-famous Indian Himalayas, and home to the Dalai Lama, the team will participate in unique workshops with experts at charities and women’s cooperatives to learn about: Human Rights, Fair Trade, Environmental protection, and Poverty Reduction. We will also visit Buddhist monasteries in Dharamsala, to learn from renowned Tibetan lamas and master teachers how to practice meditation and positive mindfulness in our lives.
We then carry out a well-supported adventure, trekking with daysacks through the spectacular Himalayan foothills. This phase will give all participants a real sense of empowerment and an opportunity to learn about leadership, teamwork, and self-reliance: all crucial life-skills. We will finishing by visiting Amritsar’s Golden Temple, a magnificent World Heritage temple, and learn about Sikhism.
For the final phase of our trip, we explore Delhi, the capital of India. Delhi has a rich history that goes back many centuries and empires. From the labyrinth of colourful bazaars in Old Delhi, to the best features of a modern city such as a metro system, gleaming malls, bustling markets and fabulous restaurants, the past and the present mix seamlessly together. We will also visit the stunning Taj Mahal, one of The Seven Wonders of the World. The Taj Mahal is the most famous architectural icon of India, and was built in 1632 over 22 years, by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, as a mausoleum for his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal.
