Immerse yourself in an ancient culture

Global Action offers a truly bespoke service and no two itineraries are the same. Sometimes, itineraries may be subject to change due to circumstances outside our control. We will always endeavour to give you an outstanding trip tailored to your learning aims.

  • Build Up

    And we're off!

    A meeting with your Global Action Trip Leader at school to check your kit, run through health and safety briefings, and have an introduction to Indian culture and the organisations you will be visiting.

  • Days 1-2

    The Punjab

    Overnight flight to Amritsar and travel to Dharamsala through rural Punjab. Settle into your hotel before a local market tour with your guide.

  • Days 3-10

    Dharamsala

    Based in Dharamshala, a variety of visits and seminars on Tibetan Buddhism, Hinduism, life as a refugee, human rights, environmental protection, access to education and social enterprise. Debating monks, Hindi and meditation lessons, a secular ethics workshop with Indian teenagers, and a blessing from a Hindu Priest. Option to participate in a service project at a local Indian primary school.

  • Day 11

    Relax

    A morning in the Mcleod Ganj markets to barter for those last-minute souvenirs, and an afternoon of Indian cultural dress and Bollywood dancing!

  • Days 12-13

    Amritsar

    A guided visit to the magnificent Golden Temple pilgrimage site to learn about Sikhism. The team makes chapattis and helps serve meals alongside Sikh volunteers at the Gur-Ka-Langar, a huge dining room serving thousands of pilgrims a day after temple prayers.

  • Day 14

    Alvida

    A Final Review session of your trip learning - then it's time to go home!
