Overnight flight to Amritsar and travel to Dharamsala through rural Punjab. Settle into your hotel; a local market tour with your guide.
Based in Dharamsala, a variety of visits and seminars on Tibetan Buddhism, Hinduism, life as a refugee, democracy in exile, women’s rights, environmental protection, access to education and social enterprise. Debating monks, Hindi and meditation lessons, a secular ethics workshop with Indian teenagers, and a blessing from a Hindu Priest. Option to participate in a service project at a local Indian primary school.
Camping under the stars on a 3-4 day trek in the foothills of the Himalaya. Ascend to an altitude of 3,800m, using remote trails through forests and wild-flower meadows.
A morning in the Mcleod Ganj markets to barter for those last-minute souvenirs, and an afternoon of Indian cultural dress and Bollywood dancing!
The Golden Temple at Amritsar - a guided visit to this magnificent pilgrimage site to learn about Sikhism. The team makes chapattis and helps serve meals alongside Sikh volunteers at the Gur-Ka-Langar, a huge dining room serving thousands of pilgrims a day after temple prayers.
