  • Build Up

    And we're off!

    A meeting with your Global Action Trip Leader at school to check your kit, run through health and safety briefings, and enjoy an introduction into Zanzibar’s spice island way of life.

  • Days 1-2

    Stone Town

    Overnight flight and a meander through the ancient streets of Stone Town on a cultural guided tour. Get kitted out with traditional ‘kangas’ and participate in a Kiswahili language lesson. Experience first-hand the amazing architecture of this UNESCO World Heritage Site and reflect on the island's Slave Market history.

  • Day 3

    Alternative Livelihoods

    An interactive Workshop at an alternative livelihoods organisation which supports local people to train in artisan handicraft production using recycled materials.

  • Days 4-7

    Snorkelling

    Four days snorkelling to carry out observational surveys and compare the health of different reefs. You might even get to see dolphins, and there’s time for a beach barbeque too!

  • Days 8-9

    Jozani

    Critically endangered Red Colobus Monkeys observations in Jozani National Park, one of the world’s 25 most important biodiversity hotspots, and an educational visit to a beautiful spice plantation.

  • Days 9-10

    Butterfly Farm and Changuu Island

    Alternative livelihoods education at an award-winning Butterfly Farm which supports farmers’ incomes while promoting conservation. A boat trip to Changuu Island, home to the vulnerable Aldabra giant tortoise.

  • Days 11-12

    Alternative Livelihoods and Resource Management

    One day working on the beach alongside female seaweed farmers, and the other learning how Zanzibaris are turning towards to natural resource management, with a focus on sustainability and recycling.

  • Day 13

    Central Zanzibar

    You spend the day with a grassroots charity providing skills training and sustainable development solutions in poor communities of Central Zanzibar.

  • Day 14

    Kwaheri

    A Final Review to reflect on trip learning, and a chance to top up your souvenir shopping before you travel home!
