Geneva is the birthplace of the Red Cross and is now the global centre for diplomacy, science, trade, and the coordination of disaster relief, human rights and humanitarian aid. Many United Nations agencies have their headquarters in Geneva: over 40 UN organisations and 200 Non-Governmental Organisations are located in this beautiful city, with the Alps and Lake Geneva as a dramatic backdrop.

This Geneva trip is designed to enhance cross-curricular learning and deepen understanding of the role of the UN, partner organisations and other Non-Governmental Organisations. It’s important to say that no two Global Action Switzerland itineraries are the same! We tailor the trip and all the activities, including the exact UN agency and Non-Governmental Organisation visits and seminars, to your school’s learning objectives. Global Action partners with many specialised UN agencies, such as the WHO, World Bank, UNHCR, UNICEF, UNEP, and UNDP. In the planning stage we will work with your team’s profile and interests, as well as the availability of UN managers, to plan an outstanding programme for your group.
All school teams also have the opportunity to visit The United Nations Office at Geneva, The Red Cross Museum and a relaxed cable car ride and walk up Mont Salève with views over Lac Leman to Mont Blanc.
