Katharine is passionate about all things Global Learning, with over 15 years’ experience in international development and education. This includes several years working with NGOs in the Himalayas, training UK gap-year teaching volunteers in India, consultancy for UNESCO and Plan International, and the design of English language curricula for education charities in the field. She loves exploring new cultures too, and is working hard on convincing her children that trekking is a good way to spend their holidays!
Katharine started her career with 10 years in the film industry as a script editor and development executive. This was followed by a shift into education as an English language teacher which then led to her work in the international development sector. The rationale behind the Global Action Global Learning Programme came from 2 inspiring years tutoring on the MA International Education and Development at the University of Sussex. Katharine is a firm believer that sharing knowledge about international development isn’t just for the ‘experts’ – after all, fresh perspectives are key to progress, and a school trip might just inspire you to a career where you can make a positive difference.
