Simon is passionate about engaging young people with the subject of global development having benefitted from cross-cultural learning opportunities at a young age. It’s why he joined Global Action – bringing elements from his past experiences to help develop interesting and exciting opportunities for young people.
When he was 18, Simon volunteered for 12 months in Uganda with a sport for development organisation, an experience that stoked a desire to work internationally. During and after university he continued to volunteer, beginning to learn Spanish in Guatemala and later spending time with Raleigh International in Costa Rica and Nicaragua.
Since these voluntary experiences he’s been an Operations Manager for a creative education organisation in Uganda, and spent 7 years at Raleigh International as Operations Manager on the International Citizen Service team in India and Costa Rica. After returning to the UK, Simon’s been working as a project manager and safeguarding specialist in a disability charity, marine conservation organisation, and with the Open University. He’s a busy man when he’s not hiking, cooking or surfing!
