The Country

Few places offer as many life-changing educational experiences as Costa Rica

Costa Rica is known for its progressive environmental policies, aiming to be carbon-neutral by 2050 with a goal of generating 100% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030. Costa Rica has enjoyed something of a tourism boom with its wide variety of ecosystems and green conservation credentials.

Central America’s Garden of Eden houses tropical rainforests, temperate deciduous, mangrove and cloud forests, and two coral-rich coastlines. It stands out from other Central American destinations as a stable country with highly developed health and education systems and is an inspiration to other countries around the world seeking to balance economic growth with environmental protection.

The Experience in a Nutshell

Costa Rica is home to spectacular cloud forests teeming with biodiversity, magnificent volcanoes, and pristine beaches bursting with marine life. Costa Ricans are known to be the happiest people on earth and live by the philosophy of ‘Pura Vida’ (pure life).

You’ll travel across the country from the jungles to the coast, experiencing some of the most bio-diverse forests and breath-taking scenery in the world!

The programme also includes learning about permaculture, sea turtle conservation and helping a Blue Flag beach programme – your contribution to Sustainable Development (Goal 14), Life Below Water and (Goal 12), Responsible Consumption and Production.
