The Country

From Cloud Forests to the Caribbean Coast, Costa Rica is a biodiverse paradise

Costa Rica is known for its progressive environmental policies, aiming to be carbon-neutral by 2050 with a goal of generating 100% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030. Costa Rica has enjoyed something of a tourism boom with its wide variety of ecosystems and green conservation credentials.

Central America’s Garden of Eden houses tropical rainforests, temperate deciduous, mangrove and cloud forests, and two coral-rich coastlines. It stands out from other Central American destinations as a stable country with highly developed health and education systems and is an inspiration to other countries around the world seeking to balance economic growth with environmental protection.

Costa Rica's Indigenous cultures offer invaluable knowledge and traditions, deeply rooted in harmony with nature. Additionally, the nation’s commitment to sustainable agriculture showcases how development and environmental conservation can go hand in hand.

The Experience in a Nutshell

Costa Rica is home to spectacular cloud forests teeming with biodiversity, magnificent volcanoes, and pristine jungle and beaches bursting with wildlife. Costa Ricans are known to be the happiest people on earth and live by the philosophy of ‘Pura Vida’ (pure life).

You’ll travel across the country from the jungles to the coast, experiencing some of the most bio-diverse forests and breath-taking scenery in the world, while visiting conservation organisations in the field!

The programme includes learning about sustainable energy production, and several days staying in an indigenous rainforest community - learn how the preservation of indigenous traditions and culture is a vital lifeline to maintain the integrity of their community ecosystem.
