Programme Overview
Immerse yourself in a new culture, change perspectives and build resilience in the scenic Annapurna region of the Nepal Himalaya. Our Nepal Annapurna programme is packed with activities to learn about:
- Poverty Reduction and Disaster Risk Reduction: post-earthquake reconstruction, clean water systems
- Environment and Conservation: sustainable tourism, environmental protection
- World Religions, Philosophy and Ethics: Buddhism, Hinduism, meditation and mindfulness
The Country
Nepal is landlocked between the Tibet Autonomous Region and India
The country has the greatest altitude variation on Earth, from the lowland plains (Terai) at almost sea-level, to the hills and mountain region of the Himalayas, including Mount Everest at 8,848 metres. In fact, Nepal has 8 of the 10 highest mountain peaks in the world!
Nepal is also the second poorest country in Asia after Afghanistan. Kathmandu hosts many development agencies and charities working in poverty reduction, conservation and social justice. As a Global Action school team you will visit staff working in the field to learn more about development solutions, and the challenges of post-earthquake reconstruction in Nepal.
The Experience in a nutshell
The Nepal Annapurna programme is designed to give you an outstanding Himalayan adventure, with a global learning focus on poverty reduction, community integration of refugees, and post-earthquake reconstruction.
Students will learn about sustainable development in expert-led seminars at international and Nepalese charities, such as the UK government’s DFID or the Gurkha Welfare Scheme. The team will also get stuck in on a community development project, and enjoy a 5 day trek through the spectacular Annapurna National Park. The programme is topped off with a workshop on Buddhism, meditation and mindfulness at a beautiful monastery just outside Kathmandu.
Global Action Directors have lived and worked extensively in Nepal with international and local development charities, including CARE International and the International Red Cross. This personal field experience and friendships with our local country partners, mean you’ll enjoy a programme in Nepal unique to Global Action.

Tailored Proposal
We will then email you a tailored proposal, which will include a full itinerary, all-inclusive price, and key documents for the Senior Management Team (SMT).

SMT Approval
Once you get approval from the SMT, we will send you key marketing material, including posters, to help promote the trip.

School Presentation
We visit your school to deliver inspiring presentations in a short Morning Assembly and a longer Parents’ Presentation 10 days later.
