As Managing Director at Global Action, I’m frequently asked by School Heads, Bursars, and teachers how their schools can be ready to travel when the Government lift travel restrictions on overseas school trips. Recently, I was lucky enough to be joint host at a Hayes Parsons Insurance Brokers webinar for Head Teachers and Bursars.

It was great to be able to hear from others about their concerns and experiences, and hopefully give some clarity on the essentials to consider when booking your trip.  We talked about:

  • Exploring the big question of when can schools travel abroad, and ultimately where can they go?
  • Clarifying the Government’s traffic light system, what their intentions are, and the Government’s decision-making process
  • Travel insurance, and how ABTA and ATOL bonding works to protect you financially
  • Tour operator terms and conditions, and what to look for in their ‘Financial Protection Guarantees’ for new bookings

You can watch the 20 min webinar here.  I hope you find it helpful.

Government restrictions on overseas school trips are anticipated to lift in due course. When they do, schools and tour operators need to be well prepared, so educational trips can be delivered safely for the benefit of all pupils.  It’s a fantastic way to develop critical thinking skills around Global Citizenship, as well as the GCSE/A-level topics they study at school.

You can read more here about what we do, and how we reduce teachers’ workloads when organising a school trip.
